This Sunday in all three services we join with Christians around the world in recognition of All Saints Day, an opportunity to remember those we have loved and lost. Part of this remembrance in The Gathering will include a teaching on the ways we respond to death. This will include a personal story on suicide which could be troubling for some of our younger friends. We continue to believe church is one of the best places to have difficult conversations, while recognizing some of those conversations our children may not be ready for. So, as we have done in the past when dealing with a particularly sensitive or mature subject, we will have an opportunity for both younger and older children to move from The Gathering to their own activity downstairs in the middle of the service. Our weekly Children’s Church is designed for children through second grade. This week we will include Junior Church, which is for children in third, fourth, and fifth grade. As always, your children will not be required to attend Junior Church; we leave that decision up to you, the parents. But the opportunity will be available this Sunday. We give thanks for the chance to learn, grieve, and grow together.
