As announced in our services on November 22, our annual Christmas Eve offering will go to fund a new outreach opportunity through our Nourish One Child program. NOC currently feeds approximately 200 children in Athens City Schools each weekend; backpacks of food are distributed each Friday of the school year to children designated by the school offices. However, our last distribution of the fall semester will be December 18, with the first distribution of the spring semester not scheduled until January 8.
So this year we want to offer two additional opportunities for our Nourish One Child families to receive food from our pantry. On Tuesday, December 22 and Tuesday, December 29 our NOC pantry at Keith will be open for families to come and receive additional food at no cost for the holidays. Exact times will be announced soon.
To fund this opportunity, and to offer ourselves as a sacrifice of thanksgiving, we are asking everyone at Keith to give 10% of whatever they spend on Christmas presents to our Nourish One Child program. We give thanks for the opportunity to give and receive gifts, and even more for the chance to share in the spirit of giving with others. Bring your offering to any of our three Christmas Eve services (4:00, 6:00, and 11:00 PM), where 100% of what we collect will go to provide food for our NOC families. There will also be opportunities for you and your family to volunteer to serve with us on December 22 & 29 when our pantry is open.
We continue to be blessed so we might be a blessing to others, and offer not only our gifts but our hearts to God in thanksgiving. May you and your family have a wonderful holiday season, and may God’s generosity and our faithfulness help share those blessings with those in our community.
